What we do

VGC is a leading provider of support services to the UK infrastructure industry. We supply people to work on major infrastructure projects, deliver subcontract packages and have a vehicle rental business.

What sets us apart is the way we do business. We want everyone to achieve their potential, deliver on their promises and look after each other. We encourage this to happen through a culture of lifelong learning, professional development, being expert in our roles, supporting our local communities and creating an environment where everyone is truly valued for their contribution.

We are also really good at what we do and we have been recognised by both our clients and our industry for the great work we do.

Life at VGC

Our people are proud to work here. We are a friendly bunch who support each other and dig deep to go the extra mile for our colleagues, clients, candidates and the communities that we work in.

We continually strive to be a force for good in the construction sector, but we also have fun along the way – raising money for charities close to our hearts, to recognising and supporting mental health and wellbeing of our friends and colleagues and having fun social events throughout the year.

Fairness, inclusion and respect (FIR)

We are fully committed to creating an environment where everyone can achieve their potential. Our industry benefits from being incredibly diverse, bringing together individuals with differing backgrounds, skills, and experiences. FIR ensures that individuals are treated fairly, that their voices are heard, and they are respected for their unique perspectives. A culture of fairness inclusion and respect ensures we are attracting the best talent into the industry, fostering teamwork and collaboration, and ultimately ensuring the successful delivery of our work.

We remove barriers to accessing employment and development activities, support people from under-represented groups to access opportunities, and promote equality of opportunity to all who work with and for us. We encourage everyone to share their expertise and support under-represented groups through regular volunteering activities.

In order to continue to improve we have a team of FIR ambassadors meet regularly to plan out training events, communications and celebrations of culture.

VGC received the Inspiring Change award for ‘Inspiring Change in the Community’, at the Fairness, Inclusion & Respect Programme awards, recognising our recruitment, onboarding, and retention practices across all four sections of HS2.

Sustainability

At VGC, we want to leave a positive lasting legacy in the areas in which we work, and are determined to reduce our carbon footprint and have a positive impact on the environment.

In line with our clients and the industry we have set our ambition is to go Net Zero Carbon by 2040. We aim to achieve this through a range of commitments including renewable energy sources and carbon offsetting. Find out more about our commitment to achieving NetZero by 2040.
