We have strong links with the communities in which we work.

We want to make an enduring contribution through charitable donations, sponsorship, volunteering and our employment and training opportunities.

Charities

Each year our team members choose a charity for us to support, often based upon personal experience. We take pride in raising the awareness of worthwhile causes and promoting fundraising activities such as sporting events, charity functions, cake sales and quiz nights. Since 2012 our staff have raised over £26,400 for charity.State of Mind sport logo

State of Mind Sport

Our nominated charity for 2019-2020 is State of Mind Sport. The charity uses sport to encourage people to discuss the issues of mental health and wellbeing and to encourage suicide prevention. Staff have run fundraising activities including coffee-and-cake mornings, dress-down days and sporting challenges.

Our board of directors has offered to double all the money raised by staff. The donation total stood at £12,652 by March 2020.

Samaritans

VGC’s charity for 2017 and 2018 was Samaritans: staff raised more than £7,130. Samaritans offer support to anyone who is struggling to cope with life: volunteers are available 24 hours a day on 116 123.Samaritans logo VGC hard hat

Bloodwise

By the end of 2016, staff had raised £12,900 for Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research).

Mesothelioma UK

In 2013, we supported Mesothelioma UK, and we were delighted to donate over £6,360.

Community support

We support local schools and community groups, for example by providing raffle prizes.

Sports sponsorship

Playing sports, particularly team sports, helps to keep bodies and minds healthy. We sponsor the following clubs:

London County GAA Intermediate Football Championship

VGC Group sponsors the London County GAA Intermediate Football Championship.

Volunteering

VGC Group encourages and supports staff who undertake volunteering activities within the community in our programme ‘go beyond and give back‘.
