Alice and Theresa charity fundraising

Theresa writes:

I am pleased to announce that our total fundraising last week came to nearly £1,720.00.

This is the largest amount we have ever raised for a charity week – and it brings our total raised to date for blood cancer charity Bloodwise to just under £12,700. It is a real achievement, because we have only been raising funds since April 2014.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the various activities during the week.

Monday was International Food Day

International food day spreadThe delights on the menu included croissants, banana bread, Irish soda bread, onion bhajis, a cheese and pineapple hedgehog, brownies, melktert, cup cakes and a victoria sponge. Also, SD and Vijay from our IT team kindly offered a fabulous lunch time ‘meal deal’ of lamb curry, rice, salad and a drink.

On Tuesday we ran ‘Guess the number of sweets in the jar’

The winners were Lorne and Laurence. Tub 1 had 549 sweets in and Lorne guessed 556. Tub 2 had 746 and Laurence guessed 741.

On Wednesday Alice cut my hair

(See the photo above!) She straightened it first, and then cut 12 inches off which I have donated to the Little Princess Trust. This wonderful charity provides real-hair wigs, free of charge, to boys and girls that have lost their own hair through treatment for cancer and other illnesses. Thank you so much to all the people who sponsored me to raise £691 for Bloodwise.

And thank you again to Alice who tidied my hair up afterwards into a really nice cut.

Thursday was a busy day

VGC karaoke eveningWe had a dress down day, and after work we ran the VGC karaoke challenge at the LNER club in Sudbury.

The evening started with a buffet from 6pm, and then we enjoyed the varied singing talents of the karaoke.

We also drew the raffle for an iPad, a Matsui TV and a bottle of champagne. The winners were

  • First prize – Sean Murphy
  • Second prize – Phil Dooner
  • Third prize – John Dalyjohndaly

A big thanks to everyone for donating so much money. Thanks also to Total Computers for their support.

Special thanks to the charity committee, to Gary for helping make the karaoke such an interactive night, and to Alice for keeping up the momentum selling raffle tickets and collecting monies for the numerous activities which took place.
