This is because we promote fairness and respect and celebrate diversity across our whole workforce. We have a specific corporate objective, championed by operations manager Chris O’Sullivan, to benchmark, monitor and improve local employment and diversity across our business.

Laurence Mckidd, managing director, said: “We are pleased to be recognised as among the best in our industry for the way we value everyone’s different skills and knowledge and embrace people’s differences.”

Group Services director Ciara Pryce added: “We believe that making people feel accepted in their work environment makes them happier and more productive.”

Final round of judging

For the next stage of judging, all Construction News award finalists will deliver a half-hour presentation to a judging panel in London. The judging line-up includes:

  • Louise Ellison, head of sustainability, Hammerson
  • Mike Grice, construction director, Battersea Power Station Development

CN editor Tom Fitzpatrick said: “This year’s Construction News Awards shortlist showcases the best that UK construction has to offer, both for the economy and for communities across the UK and internationally.

“In uncertain economic times ahead of Brexit, construction businesses are getting on with keeping the UK moving. They are building the infrastructure, homes and workplaces this country desperately needs and we’re proud to recognise those companies striving to create an ever more productive, diverse and talented industry.”

The winners will be announced on 13 July 2017. See the Construction News website for the full list of finalists.
