I witnessed Kyle Walsh (in VGC high vis) stop a man walking through the yard in Bolton who had dropped cash from his back pocket and not realised. Kyle stopped the man and gave him the money back.
It was lovely to witness such honesty. If you have guys like that working for you, you must be a very good company.

I would like to nominate the Westbourne Park VGC C644 team for a values award for collaboration.
Since joining the project Donal and Carlos have taken on works left by a previous contractor and vastly improved on the quality of the works, and delivered on their promises. Despite a very tight schedule and a restrictive site they have never compromised on safety and have ensured the team are empowered to speak up.
They encourage good communication and this is reflected in the engagement Crossrail has with the people on site. They have coordinated works with other contractors and deliveries without raising issues and just got on with the extra responsibility.
We have jointly spoken to all local businesses and given them the details for reporting concerns directly. This has been very well received and as yet in the six months on site nothing has been an issue with the community. They are open and honest, never over-report and tell it like it is.
I hope these guys are as valued internally by VGC as they are by Crossrail.

I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for the successful delivery of the full scope of the BTR [ballast track renewals] last weekend at Latimer Road. Your hard work and commitment made the weekend works a success. Well done, everybody.

Project manager – BTR team – Track Partnership

Please pass on my thanks for a very safe and productive weekend.
Well done all.

Head of Track Programme – Track Partnership

The works at Westbourne Park have been complicated by the site interfaces with buried services, preparations for specialist deliveries for other projects, and partial works completion from previous works. VGC’s site team has overcome these challenges and presents a good quality of workmanship. They should be congratulated: they have pulled together proactively to get the works done.

Thanks guys for your hard work in getting to this stage.
