Achilles Building Confidence audit success

Achilles Building Confidence audit success

We have passed the Achilles gold one-day audit to achieve Building Confidence accreditation.

We had no non-conformances or adverse comments.

The stringent Achilles audit verifies and assesses our business management systems. It confirms that we comply with UK health and safety legislation and the CDM regulations. It also checks the way companies keep everyone safe. A new element asks businesses to demonstrate how they combat modern slavery.

Non-executive director Terry Dutton-Wells, head of HSQE Richard Wheeler and HSQE adviser Chantal Austin put in many hours preparing the documentation to prove that we comply with all the regulations.

Chief executive Laurence Mckidd said: “Thank you to everyone in our business for working to our processes.

“Particular thanks to the members of our HSQE team who undertook the audit remotely during COVID. The auditor was particularly complimentary about HSQE adviser Chantal Austin. They praised how efficient she was in producing the relevant paperwork, and her knowledge of our systems.”

Achilles Building Confidence is a supplier pre-qualification and accreditation service developed and managed by Achilles for the UK construction industry.

The scheme requires suppliers to define their management processes in a documented management system. It is one of a number of audits which VGC takes part in to benchmark our processes against best practice and keep improving. These include RISQS and the Ethical Labour Sourcing Standard.

We are currently working on a new interactive business management system.

The new system will be much easier for staff to use every day. We expect to launch it in early 2022.
