We are proud of our graduate trainee programme, which supports people into a long-term career in engineering.

Bobby Hayre, section engineer, talks about the programme in the video below:

In summer 2015 VGC VGC was approved by ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers) to deliver graduate training. The programme culminates in graduates’ applying for ICE incorporated engineer status.

Engineers Aasim Khan and Bobby Hayre are now an integral part of VGC.

Aasim and Bobby joined our graduate engineer programme in autumn 2014. Aasim gained his degree in civil engineering from Kingston university, and Bobby had gained a first class BEng (Hons) in construction engineering management from Portsmouth university. Their first project with VGC was the East Kent resignalling project.

They were promoted to site engineers in 2015 and are an essential part of the team working on the Crossrail Anglia project for client Costain. One of Aasim’s projects was to build an artificial sett for badgers which would have been affected by new track drainage near Shenfield. Read about the successful project in contracts manager Michael Condon’s blog.

In September 2016 Bobby was accepted as a technician member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He is now a section engineer. Watch the video above to hear Bobby talk about his career at VGC.
