VGC Projects have completed a programme ahead of schedule for client Balfour Beatty in Paddington.
We provided:
- New kerbs
- New road surfacing
- New Road markings
- Brick wall construction
- Handrails
- Paving slabs Signposts
We completed extension of trial hole size on roadside of kerb to allow space to fix core rig to trial hole base in all six trial hole areas.
To complete line markings in the night, two lanes were taken individually, completing works on one lane prior to transferring to the second lane, enabling one lane to be accessible at all times.
Overcoming challenges
- Interface management – due to the site being next to Paddington station, we had to negotiate and be considerate of the public throughout the project.
- Accelerated programme constraints – the ten week programme completed in 9, carried out acceleration work at the request of the client and completed final phase of works from 3 weeks in 2 weeks
Observations winners
Ben Keegan was recognised by Balfour Beatty for submitting an observation when he spotted a delivery driver working on the rear of their low loader without the necessary edge protection in place. Ben was able to stop the driver at the time and ensure the edge protection was installed while also highlighting the risks from falling at height. As a result, Ben won observation of the month for July 2022.
Bobby Hayre was also recognised by Balfour Beatty for a close call observation raised regarding a business owner who approached the Traffic Marshal, which won observation of the month award for August.
