This contract was to install a raised GRP walkway within a high voltage room below Stepney Green Park, as part of the C360 ventilation works on Crossrail.

The walkway installation was logistically challenging with extreme space constraints.

VGC’s project team used our client’s concept design to produce the AFC design drawing in collaboration with partner Dura Composites. The team used a flexible design to accommodate existing equipment and cable runs.

  • length 8m
  • ground to top of handrail 2.3m

GRP walkway Stepney Green ParkThe walkway leg positions were all adjustable, and the stringers, handrail, ladder and walkway position were altered to accommodate equipment already placed in the room.

Our team was commended by the client project team for the quality of the product and their efficient safe installation.

Crossrail contract C360 was a project to provide ventilation and emergency access to the main running tunnels for the Elizabeth line.

This is one of sixteen Crossrail projects that we have worked on, providing projects or people or both to this enormous pan-London project. Our team’s work on Crossrail Anglia for clients Costain and Balfour Beatty gained us a total of five Network Rail stars, evidence of our high standards of safety, health and environmental management.
