VGC Projects carried out a wall demolition in Sudbury Hill Substation in order to enable the construction of the new DC Switchboard.
The team first constructed a dust enclosure designed to limit dust before carrying out the demolition in a dust sensitive environment.
Portable dust enclosure erected on top mezzanine floor and main ground floor dust enclosure containing work area from live substation.
A fire alarm isolation was required daily in order for the team to carry out the works within the live substation, restricting the working hours.
Due to fire overalls being mandatory PPE in the substation and the dust enclosure restricting free flow air, humidity was extremely high making it difficult working conditions. VGC ensured that the project was being completed whilst keeping our workforce safe in difficult conditions.
Despite this, VGC completed the wall removal on programme and to a high standard.
