Overview
An opportunity for an experienced Bid Manager to lead and manage tender opportunities from inception through to submission and handover. This role is responsible for driving bid strategy, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality, competitive submissions that maximise the likelihood of success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end bid process, ensuring delivery of high-quality tender submissions
  • Develop and implement winning bid strategies in collaboration with business development and senior leadership
  • Coordinate and manage bid teams, including estimators, planners, technical, commercial, and operational functions
  • Oversee commercial strategy and ensure alignment with project objectives and business targets
  • Manage tender programmes, budgets, and governance requirements
  • Chair and coordinate key bid meetings (kick-off, reviews, settlement, and post-tender)
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and corporate governance
  • Act as the primary point of contact with clients and key stakeholders during the bid process
  • Manage relationships with joint venture partners, designers, and supply chain
  • Oversee design coordination and development of optimal technical solutions
  • Lead risk and opportunity management throughout the bid lifecycle
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality written submissions and presentations
  • Support and participate in client interviews and presentations
  • Manage post-tender clarifications and negotiations
  • Lead handover of successful bids to project delivery teams
  • Capture and review feedback from unsuccessful bids to drive continuous improvement

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in bid management within construction or civil engineering
  • Strong understanding of UK construction market and procurement processes
  • Commercial awareness across various contract forms (e.g. NEC, JCT)
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams in a tender environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to develop and execute winning strategies
  • Excellent organisational and programme management capability
