Buyer – Subcontract & Materials
Based in Sunbury-on-Thames
Day rate / Salary: Negotiable, Paying via LTD Company
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer to join a leading construction and infrastructure business, supporting projects within the environmental sector.
This opportunity can be considered on either a contract or permanent basis, with the rate/package negotiable depending on experience.
The role will focus on the procurement of subcontract services, materials and products across a range of projects, working closely with project, commercial and delivery teams.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage project procurement plans
- Procure subcontract packages, materials and services
- Prepare scopes of work and tender documentation
- Carry out commercial and technical tender evaluations
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and subcontract agreements
- Manage procurement activities against programme and budget
- Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance
- Resolve commercial and contractual issues
- Develop strong supply chain relationships
- Support project and pre-construction teams
- Identify cost savings and procurement efficiencies
Requirements:
- Previous purchasing, procurement or supply chain experience
- Construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or water sector experience preferred
- Strong subcontract and materials procurement experience
- Good commercial and contractual awareness
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Ability to manage multiple packages and priorities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- CIPS qualification or membership advantageous
