Seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join a project in Warwickshire. This role is crucial in overseeing the commercial aspects of the project, ensuring that financial and contractual objectives are achieved while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations. As a key member of the project team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects, helping to shape the future of transportation.

 

Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for managing the administration of contracts, which includes overseeing variations, claims, and disputes to ensure that all contractual obligations are met by both the company and its subcontractors. You will be tasked with monitoring and controlling project budgets, forecasts, and cash flows, providing financial insights and analysis to support project decision-making and ensure the project remains financially viable.

In this role, you will identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle, developing strategies to manage and minimize potential financial and legal risks. You will also lead the procurement process, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and value for money.

Regular commercial reporting will be a key part of your role, as you will prepare detailed reports for senior management and stakeholders, outlining financial performance, contract status, and key risks. You will also maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all commercial activities. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and suppliers, will be essential to ensure alignment on project goals and commercial objectives. Additionally, you will lead and mentor a team of quantity surveyors and commercial staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

 

Competencies
You will need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex financial and contractual issues.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be engaging with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and suppliers.

You should have strong negotiation skills and be adept at resolving disputes effectively.

You will need to demonstrate strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop your team.

A high level of attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment are also crucial.

Proficiency in relevant software tools, including MS Office and contract management systems, will be important for success in this role.

 

Qualification Requirements:
Hold a bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.

A relevant professional qualification, such as RICS, CICES, or an equivalent, is preferred.

You should have proven experience as a Commercial Manager or in a similar role on large-scale infrastructure or construction projects, ideally within the rail or transportation sector.

A thorough understanding of contract management, including NEC contracts, is essential, as is extensive experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

You should have a proven track record of managing commercial risks and disputes, as well as a solid understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management.

The successful Commercial Manager will receive a Salary – Up to £120,000 per annum plus additional benefits.
