Senior SHEQ Adviser
Location: Leiston, Suffolk
Salary: £45,000 – 55,000
The Role:
Reporting to the Head of SHEQ, you will lead and support a team of SHEQ Advisers while ensuring the delivery of high standards of health, safety and environmental performance across operations.
Working closely with operational teams and senior stakeholders, you will help develop, implement and continuously improve SHEQ systems, procedures and best practices, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and mentor a team of SHEQ Advisers.
- Drive a proactive and positive health, safety and environmental culture.
- Build strong relationships with project teams and stakeholders.
- Support the achievement of SHEQ performance targets and KPIs.
- Develop and enhance SHEQ procedures and management systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards and company policies.
- Conduct audits, inspections and incident investigations.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
- Influence behavioural change and encourage best practice throughout all activities.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ Health & Safety management experience within construction, utilities or nuclear sectors.
- Demonstrable people management, coaching and leadership experience.
- NVQ Level 5 or Level 6 qualification.
- Minimum CertIOSH.
- NEBOSH Fire Certificate.
- CSCS Managers and Professionals Test or equivalent industry-recognised qualification.
- Strong understanding of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to influence and challenge constructively at all levels.
- Proven experience balancing operational, commercial and compliance requirements.
