Section Engineer
Rail & Civil Engineering (Bryn Station Project)
Location: Bryn Station
Rate: £350 – 400 per day – Inside IR35 (Umbrella PAYE)

Role Overview:
As a Section Engineer, you will take ownership of a key package of works involving the installation of a lift shaft as part of accessibility improvements to the station. This role will see you working at the interface of civil engineering, rail infrastructure, and temporary works design, ensuring seamless coordination between site delivery and engineering design teams.
You will collaborate closely with the Temporary Works and Design Team, ensuring all engineering solutions are practical, compliant, and safely implemented. This is a hands-on role requiring both technical expertise and strong site presence.

Responsibilities:
– Manage and oversee section engineering works from planning through to delivery
– Interpret and implement detailed engineering drawings and specifications
– Liaise with designers, subcontractors, and site teams to ensure alignment on technical requirements
– Coordinate and supervise temporary works, ensuring compliance with design and safety standards
– Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations
– Maintain accurate site records, including QA documentation, ITPs, and as-built records
– Identify and resolve technical issues efficiently, providing engineering guidance to site teams
– Support planning and sequencing of works, particularly within a constrained rail environment

Requirements:
– Strong background in civil engineering, with demonstrable experience in earthworks and structural elements
– Previous experience working on rail infrastructure projects (essential)
– Experience working on station upgrades, access improvements, or similar schemes is highly desirable
– Good understanding of temporary works coordination and design integration
– PTS (Personal Track Safety) – highly desirable
– HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
– Strong knowledge of industry standards, specifications, and best practices
– Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
– Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
