Role Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading organisation delivering complex infrastructure and construction projects.

You will take a key commercial lead across projects, ensuring effective cost control, contract administration, and risk management, with a particular focus on NEC contracts (Option E) and cost-reimbursable frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of projects from tender stage through to final account
  • Administer NEC contracts (Option E), ensuring compliance and best practice
  • Manage compensation events, variations, and change control processes
  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim valuations and final accounts
  • Monitor and forecast project costs, budgets, and cash flow
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
  • Provide strategic commercial input to project delivery teams
  • Build and maintain strong client, subcontractor, and stakeholder relationships
  • Support and mentor Assistant and Intermediate Quantity Surveyors
  • Ensure accurate reporting and adherence to company governance procedures

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure or major construction
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts (especially Option E)
  • Experience working on cost-reimbursable or target cost contracts
  • Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (or equivalent)
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g. RICS) is advantageous
