Job Purpose

Our client is offering an exciting opportunity for a Site Agent to join their team in the Southwest, working on one of the most complex and high-profile infrastructure projects in the UK. This is a key role in the delivery team, where the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing construction activities at the site level, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant project delivery. Due to nature of works all applicants must be able to obtain SC Clearance and thus must hold a British Passport and have the past 5 years as experience. Lodging can be provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate sub-contractor activities, including leading regular co-ordination meetings with project staff and subcontractors.

  • Ensure the timely completion and quality of project documentation required for handover and Take Over processes.

  • Review drawings and technical documents, raising technical queries to resolve any inconsistencies or ambiguities.

  • Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as necessary and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

  • Support the Site Agent in maintaining and updating the Site Risk Register.

  • Promote and deliver training to ensure hazard recognition and implementation of appropriate control measures across the site team.

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company policies, and industry best practices throughout the construction and commissioning phases.

  • Ensure all site supervisors, including subcontractors, have adequate training, certifications, and resources to fulfil their responsibilities.

  • Manage site rules, emergency procedures, and enforce site-specific protocols.

  • Oversee the permit process, ensuring all necessary permits are obtained and correctly issued.

  • Ensure all site hazards are clearly identified and signed appropriately during construction.

  • Collaborate with sub-contractors and internal teams to develop detailed programmes of site activities.

  • Chair and co-ordinate regular H&S and site progress meetings.

  • Manage the maintenance of installed plant and equipment until project handover.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Qualifications – Essential:

  • Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) and/or IOSH certification.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Strong background in managing site-level activities on large civil engineering projects.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in subcontractor management, H&S compliance, and quality assurance.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-risk environment.
