For the second time, VGC is included in the LSE’s ‘1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain’.
The London Stock Exchange list is an annual celebration of some of the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK. To be included in the list, companies needed to show consistent revenue growth over a minimum of three years. They have also all outperformed their sector peers in terms of revenue, growth, employee numbers, and other selection criteria.
VGC Group was first named in the list in 2016.
I am most grateful to all of our staff for the drive and determination which make VGC the best labour company in the UK,” said Laurence Mckidd, VGC Group managing director. “Our inclusion in this list demonstrates that our focus on transparent and ethical working is good for clients, staff, and VGC. For example, we are the first labour company to achieve the Ethical Labour Sourcing Standard. This is a clear differentiator for our clients.”
In the list, the biggest industry by far is engineering and construction, showing the key part that our industry plays in the UK economy. The companies in the list had a strong national average of 71% turnover growth.
“SMEs are the heartbeat of our economy, driving jobs and growth” said Nikhil Rathi, CEO, London Stock Exchange plc.
“Great people sit at the heart of every great business. The best businesses, like those recognised in this report, understand that their success relies on talent and skills. Nurturing this talent and investing in training, while creating inspiring working environments, encourages committed teams that drive a company forward,” said Dr Adam Marshall, Director General, British Chambers of Commerce. “Over the past two years, the resilience and adaptability of UK companies has shone through in the midst of political uncertainty.”
The London Stock Exchange Group website has a searchable list of all of the 1000 companies named, and a downloadable pdf of the report. As well as identifying 1000 companies, the annual report examines in detail the opportunities and challenges facing SMEs and looks at the sectors and trends that will shape the future of the UK economy.
