VGC Group is a key launch sponsor of BuildForce, a new initiative to connect service leavers with opportunities in construction and engineering.
BuildForce will officially ‘go live’ at an industry event in the Fusiliers Museum at the Tower of London on Tuesday 31 January. Over 150 industry and military contacts will discuss how offering trageted training and mentoring to military service leavers and veterans can address construction skills shortages.
“We’re delighted to be a part of the BuildForce Alliance, which will help service leavers to find new, exciting, long term careers in construction and engineering,” said Ciara Pryce, VGC Group Services director. ” At a time when the construction industry is facing a serious skills shortage, we are delighted to work closely with ex-military personnel. We are looking forward to working together to mentor and support service leavers, so that they can gain sustainable and rewarding careers following their years of military service.”
Andy Parker, director of defence at Morgan Sindall and chair of the BuildForce steering group, will welcome delegates to the launch. Also speaking at the event will be:
- Damian Hinds MP, Minister of State for Employment, Department for Work and Pensions
- Mark Noonan, Industry Relations Director, CITB
- Major General Richard Semple, British Army chief information officer
- Mark Farmer, CEO of Cast Consultancy and author of the “Modernise or Die” review of the construction labour market.
