VGC is proud to have achieved a Silver in the internationally-renowned RoSPA Health and Safety Awards.
The award recognises VGC’s practices in helping our staff go home safely at the end of every working day.
Our entry included our ground-breaking behavioural safety programme, which has been embraced by the construction industry organisations since we first initiated it in 2012. It also described our work on mental health, including the role of our wellbeing champion, Fiona Dowling, and our workforce key influencers.
The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK. It recognises achievement in health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. Entries from organisations around the world are recognised for achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels.
John Hannan, HSQE director, said: “Health and safety are a team effort at VGC. We all work together to encourage the right behaviours and reduce risk to the lowest possible level.”
Managing director Laurence Mckidd said: “Safe working is absolutely essential in everything we do. Our number one priority is that everyone goes home safe and well at the end of every day. Everything else comes second.”
Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards have become the key fixture in the health and safety calendar with almost 2,000 entrants every year. RoSPA award winners benefit from the wide-ranging rewards of improved sector reputation.”
