If you are unable to attend work due to illness, you must contact your VGC Labour Manager or Recruitment Consultant before your shift starts on the first day of absence.
You must also complete this absence form with the dates you will be off work.
You must report your absence every day unless you have provided VGC with a doctor’s Statement of Fitness (fit note) covering a specific date range.
Some sites have additional sickness-reporting rules, and these must also be followed.
Failing to report sickness correctly may affect your eligibility for any sick pay.
Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) requirements
To qualify for SSP, you must:
- Report your absence to VGC on the first day you are off sick, and
- Provide the correct documentation:
- SC2 self-certification form for absences of 7 days or less, or
- Fit note from your GP for absences longer than 7 days
