The A14 Integrated Delivery Team has won a prestigious collaboration award.
At the Institute for Collaborative Working Supply Chain awards ceremony at the House of Lords on 13 December, the A14 Integrated Delivery Team won the supply chain collaboration award.
The award was for the ‘collaborative nature of the supply chain management approaches’. This approach has had tangible outcomes for the project, its supply chain and the wider industry. In particular the judges applauded the way the supply chain partners’ work together is enhancing their understanding of Highways England culture and deliverables.
In addition, Ben Cross, A14 supply chain manager, won the chairman’s award for collaboration.
The £1.5 billion upgrade of the A14 between Cambridge and Huntingdon is being delivered by a joint venture of Costain-Skanska, Balfour Beatty, and Atkins-CH2M together with Highways England.
VGC works in a collaborative partnership to form an integrated labour team (ILT), which supplies all labour resources to the project. Our partners in the ILT are Reliable Contractors, Danny Sullivan Group, and Hercules Site Services.
The fully integrated team is delivering the world-class scheme safely and also working together to leave a positive legacy for A14 users with volunteering and local employment initiatives. The A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme is the first standalone project to gain ISO 44001, collaborative business relationship management.
This award follows the innovation award won by the A14 integrated labour team in January 2018.
The Institute for Collaborative Working (formerly called Partnership Sourcing Limited – PSL) was established in 1990 as a joint initiative between the Department of Trade and Industry (now Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Confederation of British Industry. It is a totally self financing, not-for-profit, organisation. The Institute aims to help organisations in the public and private sectors to build and develop effective competitive business relationships based upon a collaborative approach.
