The Labour Desk manages the supply of quality temporary workers for the Morgan Sindall Group.

It is a collaboration between five specialist agencies: VGC, Randstad, Hays, Danny Sullivan and Workmates & Daniel Owen. Together they have access to over a million candidates.

The Labour Desk provides efficient labour supply to Morgan Sindall Group customers. They cover projects across the UK, including Crossrail, Network Rail Warrington and Kings Cross projects, London Underground train modification unit at North Acton, HS2, and the decommissioning of Sellafield.

Account manager Shauna McKeon (pictured above) is based partly at our head office in Ruislip, and partly in Morgan Sindall’s office in Euston. The labour desk offers:

  • a single point of contact for sourcing external trades, labour operatives, and professional and technical staff
  • standard terms of business and agreed rates
  • compliance with legislation
  • one process for dealing with timesheets
  • weekly reports sent to participating projects.

“We value our relationship with VGC, and they are excellent at providing safe, competent staff to our projects,” said Graham Edgell, Morgan Sindall’s director of sustainability and procurement. “Because we know that VGC supports the long-term social, environmental and economic wellbeing of their communities, we were pleased to support them to become a partner in the Supply Chain Sustainability School.”

Morgan Sindall also nominated VGC for the 2015 Infrastructure 21 Training award.

All the partners working on the labour desk screen individuals carefully before recommending them for any position.

They ensure everyone is checked for their suitability for the role, vetting a proven employment record, and verifying

  • their right to work in the UK
  • their previous industry experience
  • current skills and qualifications.

(DBS checks are agreed where necessary in line with the legislation.) They take all possible steps to provide workers with a proven employment record of respect for others and good timekeeping.

Partners also supply basic PPE to every site operative: hat, boots, high visibility jacket or waistcoat.
