Riverlinx is a Joint venture consisting of Ferrovial Construction, BAM Nuttall and SK ecoplant. They are designing and constructing a tunnel under the Thames linking Silvertown to the Greenwich Peninsula in east London.

To deliver the Silvertown Tunnel the project they will be using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) which will have the largest diameter of any TBMs ever used in the UK. Measuring at 11.91m which is the equivalent of almost three double decker buses, dwarfing those used on Crossrail (7.1m) And Thames tideway (8.85m). It will also be larger in diameter than those working on the delivery of High Speed 2.

The Riverlinx CJV project are using a cut and cover method for the tunnel entrance. We have Site Engineers working as part of the Greenwich Civils team who are carrying out the bulk excavations on top of other civil engineering duties at the tunnels entrance. The Civils team are also responsible for providing prop installations/temporary works, which provides support to walls in the excavated area at the entrance.
