CSR initiative shortlisted for CN Talent award

VGC Group has been shortlisted for the CN Talent award for CSR Initiative of the Year.

The award recognises companies that are working to improve the construction industry’s reputation and standing in local communities. Go beyond the gates is VGC’s programme to support ex-offenders into sustainable mainstream employment, reducing reoffending and helping them to live independently. Finding work for offenders near to release helps break the cycle of unemployment, homelessness and reoffending.

The judges considered the company’s commitment to transparency, fairness, integrity and diversity, and looked at how we measured the impact of the programme.

This reduces the likelihood of reoffending: go beyond the gates candidates to date have a 0% reoffending rate. We work with a range of partners including Shaw Trust, BounceBack, Key4Life, MindtheGap, A Fairer Chance, and the other members of the Infrastructure Employment Forum.

Other shortlisted CSR iniatives include:

  • City Building, Building sustainable communities
  • Interserve Construction, Battery Retail Park – Selly Oak
  • Murphy Surveys, Inspiring the next generation of geospatial surveyors
  • Network Rail and Mott MacDonald, The fast trackers programme
  • Novus Property Solutions, Big Five

The full shortlist is on the CN Talent website.

The winners will be announced at the CN Talent Awards ceremony on Wednesday 20 November at City Central at the HAC.
