‘Act Ethically and Transparently’ Skanska award

Skanska presented VGC with the ‘Act Ethically and Transparently’ award at their inaugural infrastructure supply chain awards ceremony.

The six awards given on the night were:

  • Care for Life – won by Aggregate Industries
  • Act Ethically and Transparently – won by VGC Group
  • Be Better – Together – won by Byrne Bros
  • Commit to Customers – won by Blackwell
  • Great People – won by Danny Sullivan Group
  • Operational Excellence – won by Sian Formwork

The Skanska Supply Chain Conference on 25 September brought together 150 of Skanska’s top infrastructure suppliers and clients. The event included a panel debate with representatives from HS2 Ltd, Highways England, Anglian Water and the Department for Transport. They discussed the future of the industry, including digitalisation, collaboration and working together to meet the skills shortage. Other discussions looked at ways to deliver high-performing infrastructure.

“We are proud to be recognised for our inclusive approach to safety, health and wellbeing,” said Laurence Mckidd, VGC managing director. “We want everyone, from the newest apprentice to our board members, to feel respected, included and valued, and fit to work for as long as they choose. Our achievement of the Ethical Labour Sourcing Standard, and our Be Safe by Choice programme, as well as our drive for fairness, inclusion and respect all contributed to winning this award, and I’d like to thank all the members of our team for playing their part.”
