We’re pleased to have achieved the London Healthy Workplace award.
VGC is one of around 250 organisations to have achieved the standard.
“Your hard work is helping to improve the health of Londoners,” said Vicky Hobart, head of health of Directorate of Communities and Intelligence. “You are showcasing the criteria as a valuable framework for other employers to invest in staff health and wellbeing.”
The verifiers were particularly impressed with several VGC initiatives, including:
- annual wellbeing action plan with set monthly themes
- toolbox talks on wellbeing (read one of our toolbox talks)
- comprehensive approach to inclusivity, diversity, equality and fairness issues
- targeted health campaigns
- mental health ambassadors and mental health fitness training sessions.
Achieving the award at Foundation level is part of the work we are doing towards meeting the Mayor’s Good Work Standard. This brings together best employment practice in the areas of:
- fair pay and contracts
- workplace wellbeing
- skills and development
- diversity and recruitment
About the award
The London Healthy Workplace Award is a pan-London framework. It supports and recognises investment in staff health and wellbeing, partnering local public health resource with employers. It complements the Mayor’s Good Work Standard which works alongside existing initiatives to support fair employment practices and better workplaces.
The award is valid for four years. Companies must send a yearly update of their continued good practice towards workplace health and wellbeing.
VGC’s wellbeing champion, Fiona Dowling, has been invited to the annual awards event at City Hall in November.
