National Inclusion Week 2019

National Inclusion Week 2019

Zena writes:

To mark National Inclusion Week 2019, we have been talking about what ‘inclusion’ means to us.

“Every person has their needs met” said Ellie Cook, HR adviser and receptionist.

“Feeling part of the company and valued” offered HR adviser Janet Philips.

Workforce development manager Martyn Price wrote: “Construction family – we are one family.”

“All individuals are treated fairly and respectfully, have equal access to opportunities and resources” contributed Bihesh Patel, senior resourcing consultant.

‘We embrace all people irrespective of race, gender, disability, medical or other need” was the statement by Laurence Mckidd, our managing director.

The campaign was run by skills and employment adviser Kimberley McGinty, who drew up the speech bubbles. Having done a course run by Action Sustain and the Supply Chain Sustainability School, she is a FIR (fairness, inclusion and respect) trainer. To her, inclusion means “a safe environment so we can bring our whole selves to work”.

Mine was “using respectful language to everyone all the time.”

“Every person has their needs met to allow all access to equal opportunities,” contributed HSQE manager Richard Wheeler. Richard and I are proud to be FIR ambassadors.

HSQE director John Hannan wrote: “Fairness, a happy workforce, productive, diverse; a place where we accept our differences.”

The final word goes to James Andrews, labour manager (photo above). He said “embrace everyone, irrespective of race, gender, disability etc.”
