At the staff awards last October Patrick Alexander, IT service desk analyst, was highly commended for his dedication.
Patrick was described as ‘the man who keeps all our computers working’. The citation said that during 2019, in spite of managing a heavy workload, he helped implement IT service desk system Artemis, to streamline and support IT efficiencies. Artemis is a sophisticated IT service management system which helps us manage the delivery of IT services to the business.
Patrick joined VGC in October 2010. He has supported many high-profile IT projects during his time with us. He manages IT infrastructure across 13 remote offices (plus three portacabins located in Shenfield, Reading, and one on the M25 junction 24 -25). These include our sister company Cole Hire and our new office in Doncaster, as well as supporting offices from Glasgow to Bridgwater. He travels around the country to ensure all IT services are online and available to every single person in the company.
As Patrick says: “The support we provide to all staff members can be anything and everything. It ranges from helping users unable to print, to full network installations at remote sites – and everything in between.” As a team we get the job done, and the saying ‘no two days are the same’ applies.
It’s our job to provide an efficient IT system to support the company. Patrick understands the business and its people, and prides himself on getting the work done as quickly and professionally as possible. He’s warm and friendly with everyone, whether he’s having a work station chat, attending a team briefing, or meeting new colleagues on site.
Congratulations on your commendation, Patrick. We’re very glad to have you on our team.
