RIP John Daly

RIP John Daly

We were very sad to hear of the death of John Daly, who passed away from coronavirus on 26 April 2020.

John was part of the VGC family for more than a decade, joining as a groundworker in 2007, and then becoming a COSS before being promoted to contract supervisor and then labour manager.

He was based in Derbyshire, where he grew up. As labour manager, he led VGC teams on numerous projects in the Midlands, including the North West Electrification Project, M1 junction 19, M5 and M62 projects. He promoted a culture of safety on his sites which led to numerous client commendations and awards, and, as can be seen from his blogs, he was very quick to thank members of his team.

Laurence Mckidd said: “John always had a twinkle in his eye, and everyone who worked with him valued him.

“Our thoughts are with his sons, Ben and John, who have also worked for VGC, his wife Lesley, his daughter Kacey, and all of his family and friends.”

John’s funeral will take place privately on Wednesday 13 May.
