We’re proud to have been shortlisted for the UK Rail Industry Awards in the corporate social responsibility category.
VGC’s entry is one of only seven to have been shortlisted from among a wide range of entrants, representing substantial competition.
The shortlisting panel noted our achievement of ISO 50001 certification in energy management, as well as our behavioural safety programme, the way we train and develop our people, and our commitment to equality, diversity and equality.
Also shortlisted for the corporate social responsibility (CSR) award are Balfour Beatty Rail, London Underground, CrossCountry, KeolisAmey Docklands, Linbrooke Services and Network Rail.
The awards judging panel was made up of a number of industry leaders. They included Ian Prosser, chief inspector of railways at ORR, Michele Dix, managing director of Crossrail 2, Neil Robertson, chief executive of NSAR, Suzanne O’Keane, community manager, Achilles at RISQS, Philippa Oldham, head of transport and manufacturing, Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Wendy Spinks, commercial director of HS1, and George McInulty, programme director of infrastructure at TfL.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony on 9 February 2017 at the Battersea Evolution, London. The keynote speaker at the event will be Networks Rail’s chairman, Sir Peter Hendy.
