VGC Group names Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund as charity partner

VGC Group has chosen Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund as its company charity partner for 2026 to 2028.

The charity has been chosen in memory of our friend and colleague Nick Wells, a much-loved Labour Manager at VGC who passed away in November 2025 and who supported Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund during his lifetime.

For more than 30 years, Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund has provided practical, emotional and financial support to families affected by childhood cancer, from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. Its services include:

  • Care grants
  • Respite holiday homes
  • Hospital care packages
  • A 24-hour family support line

This support helps families through some of the hardest periods of their lives, when they need it most.

The partnership reflects VGC’s commitment to supporting people and communities beyond the workplace. It also gives employees, workers and industry partners the chance to come together behind a cause that meant a great deal to a colleague who made a real difference to so many.

Nick joined VGC in 2007 on the East London Line project and progressed through the business to become a Labour Manager, overseeing recruitment on major infrastructure projects including Crossrail, HS2 and Heathrow Airport. He was known for his kindness, compassion and genuine care for the people around him.

Anyone who worked with Nick will remember the quality of his work, and the way he looked out for colleagues, workers and friends across the industry. He regularly went above and beyond to help others, and he embodied the values that continue to shape VGC today.

On 19 June, Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund is hosting its Gold Ribbon Golf Day at Moor Park Golf Club, where a special Nick Wells nearest-the-pin competition will take place in his memory. The event forms part of the charity’s wider fundraising programme for families affected by childhood cancer.

How VGC staff can get involved

Over the next two years, VGC employees and workers will have plenty of opportunities to support the charity through fundraising events, awareness campaigns and volunteering.

A Teams session with Lennox representative Lindsey Bidwell takes place on Tuesday 24 June at 10:30am, giving colleagues the chance to learn more about the charity’s work and how to take part. Attendance is encouraged.
