Today, labour manager Jana Romanova and Natalia Lagos went to the Skills Centre to meet our eight apprentices commencing their apprenticeship on HS2 Skanska Costain Strabag Joint Venture project.
In collaboration with Danny Sullivan Group and McGinley Support Services, we will be supporting the apprentices through their groundworks apprenticeships, with a mixture of on site and classroom learning.
Head of workforce development, Martyn Price MBE said:
“As chair of the Cross-Industry Construction Apprenticeship Task Force (CCATF) and as Head of Workforce Development at VGC Group, nothing gives me greater pleasure than to see new apprentices enter the construction sector. So, I am especially delighted to welcome this latest apprenticeship cohort to VGC Group.
For some time we have been leading on an apprenticeship initiative for the SCSJV with Danny Sullivan Group and McGinley Support Services and delivered by The Skills Centre.
We look forward to sharing the future success of this and other apprenticeship cohorts over the coming months.”
VGC look forward to supporting them through their course and watching their professional and technical development.
Ciara Pryce, Chief Operating Officer, said:
“VGC is committed to supporting new entrants to the industry through high quality training interventions, practical site based experience and mentoring and pastoral support. Apprenticeships offer sustainable employment opportunities as well as helping to tackle the skills shortage in the construction and rail industries.”
