Laura PerryLaura Perry leads the team of people who look after VGC’s around 1,200 staff in offices around the UK.

Laura joined VGC as an HR (human resources) assistant in September 2003. We sponsored Laura to gain her Certificate in Personnel Practice, and after she passed it in 2005 she was promoted to deputy HR manager, and then, in January 2008, to HR manager, responsible for recruitment, staff management and industrial relations processes. With VGC’s sponsorship, she passed her CIPD Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources Management in June 2009.

Laura set up VGC’s occupational health scheme, the business and construction apprenticeship programmes, and has done a huge amount of work on applications for training grants from the CITB. She ensures that VGC complies with industry training requirements. Her work led to VGC’s gaining authorised signatory status for airside security clearance of VGC staff working on projects at Heathrow airport, and security protocols for the Hinkley Point nuclear facility project.

In February 2020 she was promoted again, to head of HR. She is now responsible for overseeing learning and development and CSR (corporate social responsibility), as well as HR.

She is also a member of the VGC charity committee. VGC staff raised over £12,700 for Bloodwise and is now raising funds for State of Mind Sport.

“I’m grateful for the way VGC has helped me to develop in my profession,” she says.
