Our teams are working on the smart motorway to reduce congestion on the M27.
Our people are working on drainage and upgrading the hard shoulder to a live running lane. We are currently working mainly between junctions 4 and 8. Later we will work on the overhead gantry upgrades for the traffic control information.
Skilled trades and labour
Our labour manager James Andrews works partnership with Danny Sullivan Group and Reliable Group to ensure that the joint venture has access to quality skilled trades and labour. This collaborative working is a model which we were involved in creating on the ground-breaking A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme. James has taken part in the Women in Construction open day, the Open Doors get-into-construction day, and recruitment open days.
We supply trades including groundworkers, general operatives, traffic marshals, plant operators, gangers and supervisors.
Professional and technical staff
Senior recruitment consultant Daniel Templeton is the account manager supplying a range of professional and technical staff to this project. Daniel has developed a portfolio of professional and technical staff through previous highways projects who he was able to supply to this project.
Some of these roles we are supplying include office, commercial, planning, health and safety, site civils and surveying staff.
About the M27 upgrade
The M27 links Southampton and Portsmouth, connecting at junction 4 with routes to Winchester and Basingstoke. During peak hours there is considerable congestion because of the volume of traffic.
The smart motorway upgrade scheme will create a four-lane dual carriageway between junctions 4 and 11. The project aims to reduce congestion and improve journey times by turning the hard shoulder into a permanent running lane.
