We’re delighted that VGC Academy has been Highly Commended in the CN Specialists Training Excellence awards.
The category was won by Flannery Plant Hire. The award recognises companies that are excellent in training and developing staff, leading to improved business performance.
Factors considered by the judges included:
- innovation in training methods
- an embedded training culture
- benefits and outcomes from training.
Our entry described how and why we set up the VGC Academy We also explained the way we’ve continued to deliver our ambitious training programme despite COVID. The VGC Academy’s training focuses on positive behaviours, helping people develop to be the best they can.
The judges said that our entry was “modern, relevant and personal.
Really strong that VGC focuses on positive behaviours, with examples of expectations and successes, and that training includes soft-skills for all levels in the company.
Head of HR Laura Perry said: “Our behavioural development programme complements our technical and trade-related training. We are developing future industry leaders who will be resilient, innovative and have high levels of emotional intelligence.”

VGC won highly commended in the Community Engagement category in last November’s online awards event for Go Beyond The Gates. The 2021 CN Specialist award winners were announced at a ceremony in London on Tuesday 19 October 2021.
